Proposed Eco Retreat

Expressions of interest are being called for this 32 acre (approx.) parcel of land as a proposed eco retreat. Situated within close proximity to Hobart this proposed development is ideal for a short break away from the city.

The retreat aims to provide visitors with the experience of being within the native bush in an inspirational setting. The intent is to give access to environmentally conscious individuals and small groups to this unique environment where as far as practical, the native flora and fauna is not disturbed. A walking track has been established through the property that minimises environmental impact whilst maximising access to the natural environment.

Current access is via a 200m (approx.) long track to a loop around the largest flat area on the site which offers good views of the Channel and Mount Wellington. The crown faces north east and encapsulates all day sun whilst the tiers to the south east protect the property from the brunt of the southerly winds.

Margate Rivulet forms the southern boundary of the site (approx. 300m of creek frontage) with a recreation reserve adjoining the western and northern boundaries. The area around the rivulet remains undisturbed and includes areas of native ferns that provide a remarkable setting under the canopy of man ferns.

A protected areas covenant has been granted for 27 acres (approx.) of the site which leaves approximately 5 acres to develop a residential dwelling and/or the proposed eco retreat.
